I’m a software engineer with 20 years of experience building software and leading teams.

I have always considered writing to be as important of a skill as any other for a software engineer. Communicating effectively means you’re quick to understand the different aspects of a problem, quick to reach alignment on possible solutions to said problem, and most importantly, doing all the work and not being able to present it is a waste of intellectual energy.

That said, we live in an age where incompetence is celebrated as freedom, demand for excellence is mistaken for gatekeeping, and being competence slows everyone down. This blog is the opposite.
