This series follows one process from the decision to replace it with AI to the point where the AI version runs in daily work and has been checked against the process it replaced.
Each part covers one stage and ends with a section of a one-page plan you can take to your leadership team. The first two parts help you understand the process and judge whether AI fits it. The middle parts cover the pilot and the team that will run it, and the last two cover keeping it in production and checking whether it worked against the baseline you measured at the start.
The framework
Six stages from process to production, each ending in a decision
| Stage | Decision at the end | Document |
|---|---|---|
| 1Understand the process | Can you say how the output is checked, how success is measured and what happens when it fails? | Process baseline |
| 2Decide whether AI fits | Does the use case pass the four questions, as it is or in a narrower form? | Fit assessment |
| 3Pilot | Should it go into production, change and run again, or stop? | Pilot agreement |
| 4Prepare the team | Are the owners named, and is the team ready to run it? | Handover plan |
| 5Run in production | Is it stable, and is the cost per item where you expected? | Run book |
| 6Review | Compared with the baseline, should you expand it, adjust it or stop it? | Review |
